Assets under management ended the quarter at $5.5 billion an increase of 22% and 25% compared to $4.5 billion at the end of the second quarter of 2007 and $4.4 billion at the end of 2007. Revenue of $12.4 million for the quarter increased by 20% compared to the second quarter of 2007. Operating Income increased to $4.1 million for the quarter, a 19% increase from the second quarter of 2007. Net income for the quarter was $1.78 million or $0.73 per diluted share compared to net income of $2.41 million or $1.05 per diluted share during the same period in 2007.

MedQuist Reports Second Quarter 2008 Results

MedQuist Inc.,(Nasdaq: MEDQ) the largest Medical Transcription Service Organization (MTSO) in the world, today announced its results for the quarter ended June 30, 2008. Revenue for the second quarter of 2008 was $82.5 million compared with $88.7 million in the second quarter of 2007. The decrease in revenue of $6.2 million or 7% from the prior year period was primarily due to customer losses experienced during the second half of 2007. Operating income for the quarter decreased to $1.8 million compared to operating income of $4.2 million in the second quarter of 2007. Operating income in the second quarter of 2007 was positively impacted by the recognition of $11.9 million of insurance recoveries which were exhausted by the end of 2007.
